A quick getaway to Los Prietos Campground this past weekend. First photo is at the campground, second is of the bike ride through multiple stream crossings. Most of the crossings were rideable, but not this one. Third photo is of our encounter with a rather large rattlesnake, and the last two photos are of a tour bus stuck on a switchback on San Marcos Road. It took two tow trucks nearly two hours to free the bus that then had to reverse all the way back down. The passengers all chose to walk rather than ride down in reverse. @schiro took the photo of me as well as the photo of the snake.

The M5 is back. Six months of looking for parts such as an airflow meter. Parts found, two trips to the state referee, passed the test, but failed the visual inspection due to the Euro headers. A bit of back and forth with the State, an exemption for said headers, and I finally got passed. A quick trip to AAA for a fresh 2027 sticker. So happy to have the car back on the road, so much so, I went to Cars and Coffee to meet 3 other M5’s. I threw in a picture of a really beautiful original owner TR6.

It was 37 degrees at the Sign this morning, colder than my rides in Switzerland this past December. Crazy to think temperatures in LA can drop that low.

Mother Nature put on a show this morning. Fog sitting low over the city, and high clouds tinged blood red. The Open UPPER struck a pose atop Mount Lee, and I managed to capture it with the city lights reflecting in the fog down below. This might be one of my favorite bike photos yet.

A quick getaway to Lone Pine over the MLK weekend. I brought my Open gravel bike and was able to ride to Whitney Portal. Had to dismount to get through two snowy sections, but the rest of the road was mostly snow free. Lots and lots of boulders though. Quite the adventure. This morning I caught the sunrise over Owen’s Lake, a stunning sight. A beautiful weekend.

I’ve been in Basel often, but this is the first time I’ve had the chance to explore a little. What a great city. The last shot is of the drive back to Dombresson. I’d never seen frozen mist before. What a sight.

11/25/25 The Hollywood Sign at sunrise along with shots of the Open UPPER Concept. Today was unusually clear, and there was a bit of a crowd. The European tourists were all in on the hike to the top. #opencycle

Spectacular morning at the Sign. And to make it even better @sebastian_g_jones joined me for the ride. I couldn’t really pick any one photo, so here are a couple of different shots. Also, there are two shots of the Valley side, unusual, as I rarely see fog over the hill.

Getting in some very early morning rides to the Sign these days. Daylight savings ends this coming weekend, so change in light is on its way.

My new to me 1971 Cinelli Speciale Corsa. The bike has 2013 Campy Super Record with modern Fulcrum wheels and is topped off with a Berk Composites saddle. This was my 5th ride to the Sign on it, and man o man, what a great ride. Thanks to @jamessage52 for this amazing bicycle.

Random shots from our drive over the Beartooth Pass into Yellowstone and on to Grand Teton National Park. We saw a lot of bison, but even better, we saw a grizzly bear, my first bear sighting ever. In the 4th picture it’s possible to see the bear frolicking in the field. What a day. Bear photo by @arsene_lighting_design
