I’m beginning to formulate thoughts on the Garmin Edge 800. I’ve now had the computer a few weeks, and I must say I’m impressed. It is definitely more than I need, probably more than most people need. That said, the wealth of information it can display is great fun. I confess that I find myself looking down at the unit more often than I should, but in my defense, it is a new toy. So far I’ve been fixating on the elevation and grade features. For some odd reason, I find knowing what grade the climb is, fascinating. It’s using the GPS to calculate this number, which means it updates the reading often. I haven’t been able to figure out the actual intervals, but it’s often. I’m still trying to learn all the features, and will follow up with a more detailed review in the future.
