I came across this petition, and having ridden up to Mount Wilson just a few weeks back, I am in full agreement with its intended purpose: stop CalTrans from using chip seal on highways reugularly ridden by bicyclists. Highway 2 from La Cañada Flintridge to Wrightwood has been coated with a layer of chip seal, and it has turned the descent into a harrowing experience. It is also unpleasant on the climb, and I question the wisdom of using chip seal on recreational highways. If you agree, head over to the petition, and sign your name on the dotted line.
