With the days getting shorter, it’s time to start thinking about putting the lights back on the bicycle. Being seen while riding at night is always a priority, so any additional lights are welcome. This is where Lumo comes into play. Lumo is a clothing company whose goal is to make sure you get noticed while riding at night. They make jackets with embedded LED lighting both front and back. This isn’t necessarily a new thing, but this is the first line I’ve seen that incorporates lighting into very stylish and functional pieces. The fabrics used are top notch, from brands such as Schoeller, and the designs take their cues from classic pieces, but reworked for optimal functionality on the bike. New pieces were debuted at Eurobike, and I hope we see some of these on our shores in the near future. For now, check out their website – and the Kickstarter that went live this week featuring a classic bomber jacket, a gillet, and a messenger bag – all three worth a look. I’ll report back when I’ve had the chance to try a piece or two.
