Next week I head out to Frankfurt, and while there, I hope to be able to tour the Ergon and Canyon facilities just outside the city. I have been scouring both companies’ websites, and have come across what is one of the prettiest bikes I’ve seen in quite sometime, the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0 SL. The bike comes in many variations, enough to satisfy all SRAM, Shimano and Campagnolo aficionados. The version pictured above is the lightest, coming in at 13.66 pounds. The frame weighs in at 790 grams, which puts the SLX in the same category as the Cervelo R5, the Cannondale Supersix Evo, and the Parlee Z5SL. The downside to this is that Canyon cycles are still not available in the States. I’ll try and find out if that is going to change soon.
Did you have time to visit the Canyon Facilities? I’ve been asking for a while when they will open up distribution to the States. I am in Dallas and would like for my next bike to the CF SLX. Any word on if/when this might happen?

I did get the chance to see the Canyon facility, and it was quite the visit. As it is the only showroom in Europe, there is quite the crowd having a look and testing the bikes. The Ultimate is as beautiful in person as it is on the website, and given the choice, it would be one of my top picks to test. The only difficulty would be choosing the gruppo. My sources tell me Canyon will be available in the States, and I get the sense that it is in the works, though I was told nothing concrete. Heres hoping it is sooner than later.
