I thought it might be a good idea to point out a couple of changes, or rather, additions to Velospeak. First off, there is now the opportunity to search Velospeak. Punch in any keyword, hit enter, and you’ll have a complete listing of every associated post. Second, for the Facebook users, there is the opportunity to “Like” a post. Both additions are incredibly welcome, and I thank those responsible for getting them onto Velospeak. Now, as for the Mavic wheel pictured above, I wanted to have an image to go along with this post, so I thought I should have a photo of my favorite wheels. The Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR clincher wheels are amazing. The technology behind this wheelset is a wonder, and the ride quality astounding. I am fortunate to be able to use such wheels, and I refer anyone interested, to the Mavic website to read up on what makes these so special. So, please, go ahead and “search” and “like” and research Mavic wheels to your heart’s content.

The Chrome Lower Southside is a lighter weight version of the standard Southside. It is still made from oiled full-grain leather, but has quarters made from lightweight and breathable polyester. This makes the shoe much more appropriate for the type of weather we seem to be experiencing here in LA. The shoe has been exceptional in the extreme temperatures, providing a solid platform for everyday adventures. As with all Chrome shoes, the quality is supreme, meaning these should last for a very long time. I am a big fan of Chrome shoes, as their design is clean and functional. I like the look, and more importantly, the comfort.

I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of the Eurobike show starting in a couple of weeks. I’ve yet to attend this show, but I’m told it is much larger than Interbike, and I’m sure there are all sorts of brands we in the States have never heard of. This makes it so enticing, and I’m determined to attend in the next year or so. In the meantime, I’ll make do with show related reports coming out of Germany.

I was pleased to discover Bicycling Magazine has written a short article on some of my favorite rides in Switzerland. These rides highlight the beauty of the wine regions of Switzerland, and give a good insight into the cycling network that has been built in this beautiful country. GPS maps of the rides are given in the online version of the article. Also mentioned in the article is the new Velopass system put in place throughout the country. It allows you to rent a bike at any of the 83 participating train stations for about $7.00 a day. The bicycle can then be dropped off at a different location. It is such a great way to see the country. Switzerland has got cycling down to an art form.

Zahid Sardar of the San Francisco Chronicle has compiled what he calls the 100 Best Bikes. The book is being released by Laurence King Publishing. Sardar writes mostly on architecture and design, so I’m guessing the majority of the book will feature designs such as the one pictured above. I will report further once I’ve had the chance to thumb through the book.

A new book by Ugo Gattoni simply called Bicycle. It is an illustrated cycle race through the streets of London. A really beautiful piece of work. Thank you to London Cyclist for making me aware of this.

“Fits like a glove” must’ve been coined by someone wearing the Giro LX gloves. These gloves are incredibly comfortable, made from Pittards® cabretta leather and incorporating 3mm Technogel® pads. They are technologically advanced, yet have an old school look that is stunning. I’m all for technology, but I prefer the subtle look of things past. These gloves are the perfect union of both.

One more from Swrve Cycling this morning in the form of the tool bag. Made from a vinyl laminated 1000D polyester weft, the bag is flame resistant and bacteria resistant. The material allows you to see what’s in the bag, so to speak, making it easy to dig out the specific tool you are looking for. It’s small enough to fit in a jersey pocket as well, making this a perfect addition for the well equipped rider.

Swrve Cycling have released their new WWR Lightweight trousers. These trousers are available in either casual slim fit or regular trim fit, and can be had in black, asphalt or slate. The material is a lightweight (179 gsm) double-weave fabric made of 63% Nylon, 27% Coolplus, and 10% Spandex. The fabric is water and wind resistant, and has 4 way stretch. As with all Swrve Cycling pants, the fit is perfect. My wardrobe consists solely of trousers from Swrve, and I am looking forward to adding these to the collection.
