The Skyline Jacket is a new release from Aether Apparel designed specifically for motorcycling. It is made from a specially engineered Japanese Field Nylon Fabric that is abrasion resistant and fully waterproof. Hidden within the jacket are D3O® pads for CE-certified protection. Also incorporated in the jacket is a JRC Reflex® reflective strip and piping to match. This material reflects bright white when lit by headlights, further helping to protect the wearer. I had the chance to stop in at the Aether Outpost to give the jacket a try, and was impressed with the fit. It is very comfortable and subtle. There is freedom of movement, and the D3O® pads are not at all noticeable. As is the tradition with most Aether Apparel, the jacket does not have the appearance of being a technical jacket, meaning it can be worn most anywhere, yet still provide ultimate protection on the motorcycle. My old Triumph Daytona is hoping I’ll get this jacket, as then, maybe, it will see the light of day once more.

Tokyo Fixed has released a new line of t-shirts that are worth a look. I especially like the graphic on the above tee. I try and hit up this shop when I’m in London for work, and it never disappoints. They have an amazing collection of product, and it is displayed in a way that makes browsing a lot of fun. Don’t miss the basement, as some of the cooler product is there. The new line of shirts can be seen here.

Jason, from Fairwheel Bikes, has started a Facebook page that is really worth following. On the page he posts photos of “behind the scenes” at one of the finer shops in North America. There is a lot to look at, so prepare to spend some time with Jason.

Matthew Sowter, one of the three behind the Made in England book, has started Saffron Frameworks in London. There isn’t much information on the website, but there are some beautiful builds to look at, ranging from a 29’er mountain bike to the above pictured carbon ISP road bike. While in London last November, I had the chance to tour the small workshop where Saffron is based. It’s a neat affair, with interesting things to look at all around. For those interested in the Made in England book, it is available through this link. I look forward to seeing more builds out of Saffron.

Argonaut Cycles have released a look book with photography by Brian Vernor. There were a few hard copies floating around at NAHBS, but now everyone has the opportunity to have a peek at the electronic version available here. There are some great shots, and it definitely makes me want to ride. The bikes look great, and I am lusting after one of these coveted frame sets. I’d also be quite keen on driving the Land Rover used in one of the shots. All good stuff.

Today Chrome announced the freshly released Storm 415 Work Boot. This is a waterproof work boot that is meant to wear with the comfort of a sneaker. I like the design of the boot, and I will pass along first hand impressions once I’ve had the chance to try them.

The upcoming CicLAvia is going to the beach!

This Gentleman’s Town Bike, designed and built by Jeremy Sycip, won Best Belted City Bike at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show in Denver. The bike incorporates an internally geared hub, coupled with Shimano Di2 electronic shifting. This is such a beautiful machine, and one that looks to be ridden all over town.

The XXXVI DG is a concept bike designed by product designer Paolo De Giusti. This is such an interesting take on the bicycle, and in my opinion, a beautiful one.
